I don't know if any of you have been keeping up with JK's two recent readings in LA and New Orleans, but I have and there's two particular things she said that made me go, "Aha! I knew it!" and "No! He didn't! That's so cruel!"
You put my thoughts to her quotes.
In Los Angeles she said:
“Snape is vindictive, he’s cruel. He’s not a big man,” she insisted. “But he loves. I like him, but I’d also like to slap him hard.”
(So this completely contradicts what she says in New Orleans. I don't know, but if you like someone, you shouldn't be thinking they DESERVE to die...should you? Or maybe she meant it in a way that he deserved to die because his life was a complete fuck up and who would want to live a life like that? Jo, I need more clearity, please!)
And in New Orleans:
Wayne Lockett, of Alice Harte Elementary, asked what advice Rowling could give students who wanted to write, especially if their grades weren't the best.
"If you'd seen my grades in chemistry.¤.¤." Rowling said. "That's why Snape teaches Potions."
Then, after the audience groaned, she said, "Don't say awwww! He deserved it! We can all think of teachers we'd like revenge on."
(Jo, honestly, do you really think he deserved to DIE, for heavens sake? Then again, I'm not even SURE if she meant to say that he deserved to DIE, or if he deserved to have a bad life or to have the position of Potions master. Or, if this is just Jo's wacky sense of humour. Jo, you need to be more specific.)
Now I am patiently waiting to see what she says at the two upcoming events in NY. More Snape questions for sure. lol.
